Robert Śmietanka – Founder & Chairman of SoftCream Software, internet.pl, and the APPCO Foundation

 

An entrepreneur, founder, and CEO of SoftCream Software since 1991.

Education:

  • 1983–1987: Tadeusz Kościuszko High School in Piaseczno (IV Liceum Ogólnokształcące w Piasecznie)
  • 1987–1991: Warsaw Academy of Physical Education
  • 1991–1993: MCNE – Master Certified Novell Engineer

Professional Experience and Achievements:

  • 1999–2008: Creator and implementer of R&D projects in collaboration with the Student Amateur Radio Club of the Warsaw University of Technology (SP5PBE), leading to the establishment of the first commercial Wi-Fi wireless data transmission network in Warsaw, operating in the ISM bands of 2.4 and 5.8 GHz.
  • 1996–2000: Author and implementer of R&D work on one of Poland’s first email servers, friko.sos.com.pl, which was recognized as the best non-commercial email server in tests by INTERNET Magazine.
  • 1997–2005: CEO of SOS Sp. z o.o., operator of the CitySOS telecommunications network in the Warsaw metropolitan area.
  • 2001–2014: Vice President and President of the Management Board at internet.pl Sp. z o.o.
  • 2006–2014: CEO of eRpoczta Sp. z o.o.
  • 2006–2012: Co-creator and coordinator of R&D work at the Notariat.pl Information Center (CNI), focusing on IT issues and building an information community for the Polish notary environment.
  • 2003–2005: Member of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
  • 2005–2007: Member of the Arbitration Commission at the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
  • 2005–2007: Chairman of the Club of Local Operators at the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
  • 2007–2009: Member of the Council of the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
  • 2008–2014: Author of the MobileME.pl project, overseeing R&D work on mobile payment standards for financial institutions.
  • **Developed the PWD.internet.pl project for the Ministry of Administration and Digitization in collaboration with the APPCO Foundation.
  • Since 2017: Chairman of the APPCO Foundation Council – ArchOS Open Source Software, collaborating with the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology on the ArchOS project. The “Research on the ArchOS Prototype” project is co-financed by the Regional Operational Program of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship for 2014–2020 (RPMA.01.02.00-14-A175/18-01).
  • Since 1992: General Director and CEO of SoftCream Software Sp. z o.o.
